Kayla started her professional journey in 2014, immersing herself in the field of Equine therapy in Sacramento. There, she dedicated her efforts to providing vital therapeutic services to children with diverse disabilities, recognizing the profound impact of this unique approach. Her commitment to the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) deepened, leading her to become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). In this role, she continued to expand her expertise and contribute significantly to the growth of ABA-based interventions.
Kayla completed her Master’s degree in Special Education at the University of Washington, specializing in ABA. She then became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) credential in May 2019.
Kayla has extensive experience working with a wide age range of clients, from toddlers at 1 year old to adolescents reaching 18 years. Her therapeutic approach is informed by specialized training in various evidence-based modalities. She has completed training in Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), enabling her to understand and support individuals with this unique profile. Furthermore, her training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) equips her with valuable tools to foster psychological flexibility and well-being. Recognizing the specific needs of developing individuals, Kayla has also completed training to effectively support adolescents through the complexities of puberty. Additionally, Kayla has supported and led numerous social skills groups, where she passionately guides adolescents in developing self-assurance and building meaningful connections. Her dedication to continuous learning is evident in her ongoing pursuit of new knowledge and her commitment to delivering high-quality services that empower both children and their families.
Outside of her professional life, Kayla loves watching Disney movies with her son, creating joyful and memorable moments. Kayla also enjoys outdoor activities such as camping and hiking. Disneyland holds a special place in her heart and she loves going any chance she gets.
